Information First, Then Investment Research and Financing
Repeated corrections to mine names, project numbers and records in cross-border coordination led me to standardize how information is submitted and handed over before refining the research, investment and financing plans for the three mines.
Recently, I've been organizing Wiser Asset's three gold resource projects. The information on the website has gone through several rounds of changes. Mine names and project numbers needed correcting, and the investment research and financing pages had to be updated accordingly. It did become rather confusing.
This reminded me to get the basic project information aligned first.
Our coordination spans countries, so differences in access to information are hard to avoid. Different people hold different documents, and updates may reach them at different times. If the information is not brought together, the research and plans that follow are likely to need repeated revisions.
So I made a gold resource information workspace.
The idea is simple: use one checklist to collect the information first. Where is the project? How large is its scope? What do the test results show? How are ownership rights and contracts arranged? What is the production and funding situation? Fill these in one by one, keeping the original documents and their sources together.
Once the information is entered, it can be downloaded as a document package, handed over, consolidated and checked item by item. Some points have been confirmed, some are still assumptions in a plan, and some have no supporting information yet. These situations need to be distinguished. Fill in what is missing; don't present unconfirmed information as fact just to make a page look complete.
Then use the checked information to develop the investment research and investment and financing plans for each mine. Keep each mine's records, research and explanations separate.
The current project numbers and links are as follows:
No. 1: Danzhai
Danzhai, Guizhou.
Investment research: Danzhai project
Investment and financing: Danzhai project overview
No. 2: Xingren
Xingren, Guizhou.
Investment research: Xingren project
Investment and financing: Xingren project overview
No. 3: Anhua
Anhua, Yiyang, Hunan.
Investment research: Anhua project
Investment and financing: Anhua project overview
What I most want this change to address is how we work together from here. First, agree on how information is collected and checked. Then everyone can work from the same set of documents and move forward.
I hope future revisions will come more often from new test results, contracts and operating records that help us make better judgments. With sounder records, the investment research and financing plans can be clearer too.
